ARTIST STATEMENT
In my work, I explore the experience of time — not as an abstract concept, but as something I perceive personally. Through visual means and moving images, I seek to make time tangible, focusing especially on its elusiveness and variability. I am fascinated by the contrast between clock time and inner time, as well as by the tensions between slowness, acceleration, and stillness.
My work often grows out of observations I make during walks. What I see and feel, I record in words, sketches, or photographs. These fragments later become the foundation for new images, in which I weave together different media. The final work gradually takes shape through this process, which is just as important to me as the finished piece itself.
In 2020, I began Movement Collage, a film I developed at WIELS. In it, I worked with 16mm and Super 8 footage to explore the movement of time — not as a linear progression, but as a layered, shifting experience in which the act of looking itself becomes a form of time.
