KAOS Talk — Eva Beazar: Stillness, Acceleration, Silence, Chaos, the Unexplainable: Time

03 November 2022

Talk starts around the 18th minute — scroll through.

In collaboration with the resident artists of KAOS, public talks and debates — the KAOS Talks — are organized. Since 2021, these have been held in partnership with the Museum Dr. Guislain.

For the third KAOS Talk of the year, resident artist Eva Beazar invited Dries Segers and Evelien Cammaert to reflect on the theme of time within their artistic practice.

Time is complex — impossible to define precisely. It is unexplainable, changeable, intangible, yet always present. There’s a clear distinction between clock time (structured, measurable) and inner time (subjective experience). During her residency, Beazar explores these different perceptions of time through a fictional narrative, resulting in five absurd short stories that will later be adapted into film.

For the past three years, I have been collaborating with Coconuts Magazine. In this project, I am responsible for the design and layout, and I also contribute as an editor to the annual publication.
Coconuts is a collaboration between people with psychosis sensitivity. As both an expert by experience and an artist, I contribute to this unique project. My work is about connection and about understanding the world — or offering a different, refreshing perspective on it.

Through the magazine, we aim to show that there is not just one way to experience reality, and that there is great value and creativity in these diverse perspectives.
